Also known as the mole cowry, Talparia talpa is a striking species of sea snail found throughout the Indo-Pacific. These shells are known for their rich brown banding, high-gloss surface, and naturally smooth, polished feel. Cowries like these have been collected for centuries. They were once used as currency, worn as amulets, and treasured in both natural history and ethnographic collections around the world.
Each chocolate banded cowry shell is unique in its striping and sheen, making it a beautiful addition to ocean-themed displays, curiosity cabinets, or educational collections.
